Description
UNS S30815 / 253MA / EN 1.4835 Plates & Sheets
UNS S30815 Plates & Sheets is an austenitic stainless steel with excellent oxidation and creep resistance in cyclic conditions that is best employed in temperatures up to 1150°C/2100°F. There is a slight susceptibility to embrittlement during continuous operation between 600–850°C/1110–1560°F.
253MA is an austenitic, chromium-nickel stainless steel with heat resistance and high strength. 253MA stainless steel is alloyed with nitrogen and reactive elements suitable for a wide range of high-temperature applications. The use of rare earth metals in combination with silicon gives superior oxidation resistance up to 1150°C.
253MA contains fairly low nickel content, which gives it some advantage in reducing sulphide atmospheres when compared to high nickel alloys and to Grade 310. The inclusion of high silicon, nitrogen and cerium contents gives the steel good oxide stability, high elevated temperature strength and excellent resistance to sigma phase precipitation.
