UNS R50400 Round Bar
UNS R50400 Round Bar is slightly stronger than Grade 1 but equally corrosion resistant against most applications. This unalloyed titanium has the best strength to weight ratio of any corrosion resistant material. This grade is one of the most common Titanium Grades and is used for Heat exchangers, condenser tubing and bleaching plants in paper industry, offshore oil installation water pipe lines. Can be used for parts requiring strength up to 400° F and oxidation resistance to 600° F.
Titanium Grade 2 is a commercially pure (CP) grade of titanium and is the most commonly specified grade of CP titanium. It has good ductility and formability with excellent corrosion resistance, especially to seawater.
UNS R50400 is generally known as the workhorse of the Commercially Pure Titanium grades and is therefor unalloyed. Because of its varied usability and wider availability, the metal has become used in many markets and applications. UNS R50400 shares many similar qualities to Grade 1 Titanium, including corrosion resistance. Grade 2 is stronger, however.
Due to higher levels of iron and oxygen, UNS R50400 Titanium possess high strength, good formability and weldability, and ductility. These traits makes Grade 2 Titanium Bar and Sheet a primary choice for a wide variety applications.
Titanium Grade 2 is a pure alpha titanium and is the most widely used titanium alloy in all product forms for industrial service because of moderate strength and excellent corrosion resistance and formability. Compared to the other grades of commercially pure titanium, Grade 2 is slightly weaker than Grade 3, but stronger than Grade 1 and equally resistant to corrosion. Grade 2 offers excellent balance of moderate strength and reasonable ductility. This material is also non-magnetic.
