Description
SS 430 Plates & Sheets / UNS S43000 Plates & Sheets
SS 430 Plates is also commonly known as grade 1.4016. Type 430 stainless steel combines good corrosion resistance with good formability and ductility.
It is a ferritic, non-hardenable plain Chromium stainless steel with excellent finish quality. SS 430 also has excellent resistance to nitric attack, which makes it well suited to use in chemical applications. The most popular applications for 430 are in domestic appliances and decorative trim.
Type 430 grade stainless steel is a ferretic stainless steel grade and it is one of the most widely used stainless steel grade. This grade is written as 1.4016 or X6Cr17 according to EN norm and it is written as UNS S43000 according to UNS norm. SS430 stainless steel is a very widely used stainless steel grade which is for easy enviroments for corrosion. 1.4016 material can be rusted if the enviroment is hard and corrosive. The aim of this grade is to be shiny for decorations and cost advantage for most of the applications. So corrosive envoriments are not appropriate for this grade. UNS S43000 stainless steel mostly used in indoor decorations, constructions, automative parts.

Applications of SS 430 Plates :
SS 430 stainless is used in decorative buildings, automotive industry, washing machines, applications where a glossy surface is required, household appliances and kitchenware. Especially in dishwashers and refrigerators, UNS S43000 quality materials are frequently used as a main stainless steel grade because of its high polishable surface property and cost advantage.

Corrosion Resistance of UNS S43000 :
UNS S43000 stainless steel has good corrosion resistance to a large variety of media including nitric acid and some organic acids. The corrosion resistance of type 430 is optimal when it has a highly polished surface. As with other ferritic grades, resistance to stress corrosion cracking is very high.
Heat Resistance of 1.4016 :
Grade 430 stainless steel has good resistance to oxidation in intermittent service to 870°C and in continuous service to 815°C. After prolonged heating at 400-600°C, type 430 stainless steel may become brittle and require annealing.
Fabrication of UNS S43000 :
Fabrication of all stainless steels should be done only with tools dedicated to stainless steel materials. Tooling and work surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned before use. These precautions are necessary to avoid cross contamination of stainless steel by easily corroded metals that may discolour the surface of the fabricated product.
