S355J2 Round Bars is a medium tensile, low carbon manganese steel which is readily weldable and possess good impact resistance (also in sub-zero temperatures). This material is commonly supplied in the untreated or normalized condition.
S355J2 is a micro alloyed structural steel suitable for e.g. mechanical engineering applications. The steel posess a good weldability with max CEV =0.47 for all variants. The steel may be delivered with a controlled silicon content for good galvanazing properties.
The “S” in the classification stands for “structural steel,” while the number 355 refers to the minimum yield strength value for the long and flat thickness of steel, which is ≤16 mm. Finally, the “J2” refers to the minimum impact energy value of 27 J at -4° Fahrenheit.
S355J2 is also known as ST52.3 .
Machinability of this material is similar to that of mild steel.

Application of S355J2 Round Bars :
Steel grade S355J2 is characterised by an optimal set of mechanical characteristics, which determines its widespread use when manufacturing metal structures and products for construction and machine building purposes. It is used in industrial and civil engineering, as well as in the construction of oil and gas platforms, other offshore structures, power transmission towers and other metal structures. Steel S355J2 is actively used to manufacture elements of heavy ground and underground equipment (bulldozers, excavators and dump trucks), railway wagons and agricultural machinery.
