Maraging C350 Round Bars
We Textron Steel & Alloys Supply C350 maraging steel is a high strength steel alloy containing 2.0% cobalt and 4.8% molybdenum. Providing a very high strength nominally 350 Ksi tensile (2415 MPa) with an above-average level of toughness, the alloy retains its tensile strength up to 450°C and good notch impact is maintained down to minus 50°C and below. This material may be nitrided. We supply C350 in the annealed condition where the microstructure consists of fine martensite before final heat treatment.
Maraging steel alloy products are manufactured through a martensitic steel heat treatment process that creates a unique class of low-carbon maraging steel. When compared with standard steel alloys, maraging steel delivers superior strength, toughness, workability, and heat treatment capabilities.
Maraging C350 is a nickel maraging alloy that is relatively soft, but extremely tough. Vascomax C350 can also be readily machined and formed to your specifications. In addition, the aging process of Maraging steel raises the hardness to a level sufficient for many tooling applications.
MARtensitic – a very hard form of steel crystalline structure.
Subsequent AGING (precipitation hardening – approx 3-6 hours @ 900ºF yields optimum material characteristics)
Maraging steels (a portmanteau of “martensitic” and “aging“) are steels that are known for possessing superior strength and toughness without losing ductility. Aging refers to the extended heat-treatment process. These steels are a special class of very-low-carbon ultra-high-strength steels that derive their strength not from carbon, but from precipitation of intermetallic compounds. The principal alloying element is 15 to 25 wt% Nickel. Secondary alloying elements, which include Cobalt, Molybdenum and Titanium, are added to produce intermetallic precipitates.
