EN1A Leaded / EN1APb also known as 230M07Pb. A low carbon mild steel with added lead. Properties: free cutting, suitable for machining using both automatic and CNC machines. Available in square, round, flat or hexagon form. AISI 12L14
What is EN1A Leaded / EN1APb ?
EN1APb / 230M07Pb is a low carbon leaded free cutting steel, bright drawn or smooth turned with a consistently excellent level of machinability. The addition of lead plus the high sulphur and phosphorous levels form a lubricating effect resulting in extremely improved machinability with little affect on the mechanical properties. This Steel is especially good for free cutting, where a large volume of products are required. It can be formed by rolling or drawing and the machining of EN1A is fine of both automatic and CNC machines.
Welding is not recommended due to high sulphur and lead content.
En1APb / 230M07Pb will electroplate but is not suitable for hot dip galvanising.
Used extensively in automatic screw machines for manufacturing parts requiring considerable machining and close tolerances.
