ER 5356 is a 5% magnesium aluminium filler metal, available in spools and cut length for various applications. ER5356 has increased levels of Mg, Ti and Mn along with the addition of chrome and a slight reduction in silicon. These changes work together to increase its corrosion resistance, making it the best aluminium for use in or near saltwater.
ER5356 is a general-purpose type aluminum alloy which is typically chosen for its relatively high shear strength. ER5356 should be considered for welding 5000 series aluminum base metals.
