Description
9Cr1Mo Round Bar
9Cr1Mo Round Bar is an alloy steel formulated for primary forming into wrought products. Cited properties are appropriate for the normalized and tempered condition. K90901 is the UNS number.
It has a fairly low thermal conductivity among wrought alloy steels in the same category. In addition, it has a fairly high base cost and a fairly high embodied energy.
Designated as UNS K91560, the T91/ P91 steel is a 9Cr-1Mo ferritic alloy steel with deliberate addition of vanadium and niobium, as well as controlled nitrogen content. It has outstanding heat-resistance and creep strength. It also has good resistance to corrosion, oxidation and fatigue rupture at elevated temperatures. The T91/ P91 steel is primarily used for superheater and reheater in power plant boiler construction, headers, main steam pipeline, as well as the heating furnace piping in petrochemical industry. Compared to other austenitic alloy steels, it has better thermal conductivity and thermal expansivity.
T91 steel: A martensitic and ferritic steel alloy used in power plants and boilers. It’s made of chromium-molybdenum steel, and often micro-alloyed with vanadium and niobium. T91 steel is known for its resistance to corrosion and steam oxidation, and its creep rupture strength. It’s also used in pressure vessels and boiler parts.
9Cr-1Mo Ferritic Steel (T91/P91) is a versatile material for fabricatingsteam generator components of the nuclear energy-based powerplants.
9Cr-1Mo Alloy exhibits high resistance to creep and has better steam oxidation resistance than lower chromium alloys. It also has lower thermal expansion than the austenitic stainless steels. This combination of desirable properties has made it a workhorse material for higher efficiency fossil power plants. Although it is an old alloy, it still presents many issues associated with welding, heat treatment and creep/rupture resistance.
We Textron Steel and Alloys usally supply annealed condition black round bars.
