SS 904L Plates
SS 904L Plates is one of the best SS grade for corrosion resistance. This grade is written as 1.4539 or X1NiCrMoCu25-20-5 according to EN norm and it is written as UNS S08904 according to UNS norm. SS904L stainless grade contains very high level of nickel, molibdenium, chromium and combinations of all these elements makes this stainless steel grade very resistant to corrosion resistance. SS 904L material is one of the strongest material to corrosion.
1.4539 has also a very good anti-magnetic property and for alot of applicatipons, this is another reason to use UNS S08904 stainless steel grade. 904L stainless steel has a very low content of carbon and low carbon also improving this grade’s corrosion resistance level.
904L stainless is not a very strong stainless steel grade and it does not have strong mechanical properties. 1.4539 is not a cheap stainless steel grade and it is not so easy to machine it. 1.4539 material used in petrochemical industry, paper mills, treatment plants, gas production and filling plants and luxery watch industry.
AISI 904L is a high alloy low carbon austenitic stainless steel with good general corrosion resistance. EN 1.4539 is fully austenitic but is less sensitive to precipitation of sigma phase than conventional austenitic grades with high molybdenum content.
904L (UNS N08904 – 1.4539 – SS2562) you get a high alloyed, acid-proof stainless steel, developed to resist corrosion in dilute sulphuric acid. The steel is very useful for details in marine environment, chemical and pharmaceutical industry.
SS904L ( also called UNS N08904, 1.4539 and SS2562) is a high alloyed austenitic stainless steel with very good corrosion resistance. The steel is developed to resist corrosion in dilute sulphuric acid and it is suitable to use in details placed in severe corrosion environments e.g. sulphuric acid tanks. It is the combination of high contents of chrome, nickel, molybdenium and cupper which gives the steel the good resistance against uniform corrosion. The steel has also good resistance against crevice corrosion, pitting corrosion, stress corrosion cracking and intercrystalline corrosion.

Application of 904L :
Areas of applications are process equipment in chemical industry, petrochemical industry, bleaching equipment in the pulp and paper industry, flue gas cleaning, desalination, seawater handling, hydrometallurgy, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals and heat exchangers.
Chemical plant, oil refinery, petrochemical plants, bleaching tanks for the paper industry, combustion gas desulfurisation plants, application in sea water, sulphuric and phosphoric acid. Due to the low C-content, the resistance to intergranular corrosion is also guaranteed in the welded condition.
