Description
M2 Round Bars
M2 Round Bars is the standard & most widely used industrial HSS. It has small and evenly distributed carbides giving high wear resistance, though its decarburization sensitivity is a little bit high. After heat treatment, its hardness is the same as T1, but its bending strength can reach 4700 MPa, and its toughness and thermo-plasticity are higher than T1 by 50%. It is usually used to manufacture a variety of tools, such as drill bits, taps and reamers. 1.3343 is the equivalent numeric designation for M2 material identified in ISO 4957.
AISI M2 High Speed Steel is molybdenum based high-speed steel in tungsten–molybdenum series. HSS grade steel M2 is a medium alloyed high speed steel which has good machinability. The HSS M2 chemical composition gives a good combination of well-balanced toughness, wear resistance and red hardness properties. Widely used for cutting tools such as twist drills, taps, milling cutters, saws, knives etc. Also commonly used in cold work punches and dies and cutting applications involving high speed and light cuts.
Grade M2 High Speed Steel is by far the most popular high speed steel replacing high speed steel grade T1 in most applications because of its superior properties and relative economy.
We are one of leading AISI M2 HSS steel supplier and we can offer better quality and M2 alloy steel price for your various applications.
What is High Speed Steel ?
High Speed Steel (HSS) is a set of Tool Steel alloys that consist of carbon steel, alloyed with more than 7% tungsten or molybdenum, together with percentages of chromium, vanadium and cobalt. HSS are used as cutting tool material and machine parts in demanding high-speed machining applications. So-named as they can cut metals at high speeds, 3-4 times faster than traditional high-carbon steels.
Why 1.3343 called AISI M2 Tool Steel?
AISI M2 Tool steel is the American equivalent of grade 1.3343, this is the reason it is often termed or transitively used with AISI M2 Tool steel.
