EN 1.4435 Round Bars / 316L UG (Urea Grade) Round Bars
EN 1.4435 Round Bars / UREA Grade 316L has been specially developed for urea plant applications. It is a 316L modified Stainless Steel with extra low Silicon content and substantial higher Molybdenum contents. The low carbon content, combined with a well balanced chemistry (low silicon and nickel content close to 14%) makes the alloy fully austenitic, free of intermetallic phase precipitations. The ferrite level is kept under 0.5% in the solution annealing and water quenched conditions. The alloy is designed for improved corrosion resistance properties in urea – carbonate environments.
1.4435 stainless steel is an austeniticy high corrosion resistance material. This grade is written as 1.4435 or 316LMo or X2CrNiMo18-14-3 according to EN norm. 1.4435 stainless usually compared with 316L (1.4404) stainless steel grade. 1.4435 material has a higher content of Chromium, Nickel and Molybdenum and because of these elements, it is more resistant to corrosion then 316L (1.4404) grade.
This grade is used in corrosive enviorements and if 316L grade is not enough, 1.4435 stainless steel could be a very good alternative material. 1.4435 material usually used in petrochemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, chemical production plants and automotive industry. This grade is not a heat resistant grade and it is not suitable to use this grade in high temperatures.
EN 1.4435 is an acid-resisting austenitic CrNiMo-Steel with 18% Cr, approx. 14% Ni and at least 2.5% Mo. Due to the increased Mo-content, this material has a significantly improved corrosion resistance compared to other CrNi-Steels. 1.4435 is particularly resistant to reducing effecting organic and anorganic organic acids as well as against halogen-containing media. Furthermore, this steel is also less susceptible to pitting. The very low carbon content also improves the resistance to intergranular corrosion, allowing the use of this steel at elevated temperatures up to 450 ° C in continuous operation. 1.4435 can also be very well polished, very good deformable and can be welded excellent.

Properties of 1.4435 Round Bars / 316L Urea Grade :
- • EN 1.4435 is an austenitic stainless steel with a high molybdenum content and a specific metallurgy for improved behaviour during machining.

EN 1.4435 Corrosion Resistance :
- • Excellent corrosion resistance in natural environments: waters, rural and urban atmospheres, and industrial atmospheres even in the presence of moderate chloride and acid concentrations, in food and food processing environments and in numerous acid (sulphuric, phosphoric, organic) and chlorinated chemical environments, in certain temperature and concentration conditions.
