We Textron Steel & Alloys Supply C300 maraging steel is age hardenable steel produced to create exceptional toughness and strength. With a nominal tensile strength of 300 Ksi, the material can retain its tensile strength up to 450°C. The core alloying elements are iron, cobalt, nickel and molybdenum, and the product offers excellent toughness and resistance to crack propagation. The material may also be nitrided. C300 can be machined close to finished dimensions as the low-temperature maraging treatment results in minimal distortion.

Maraging 300 alloy steels material (also referred to as Maraging C300 and Vascomax C300) is a vacuum induction melted and vacuum arc re-melted, low-carbon, nickel-cobalt-molybdenum high-temperature nickel alloy. This material can produce yield strengths in excess of 270 ksi (1862 MPa) through simple, low-temperature heat treatment at 900°F (482°C). Maraging steel 300 also exhibits good ductility at high strength levels, displays excellent notch ductility and outstanding weldability.

Maraging steel alloy products are manufactured through a martensitic steel heat treatment process that creates a unique class of low-carbon maraging steel. When compared with standard steel alloys, maraging steel delivers superior strength, toughness, workability, and heat treatment capabilities.

Subsequent AGING (precipitation hardening – approx 3-6 hours @ 900ºF yields optimum material characteristics)

Maraging steels (a portmanteau of “martensitic” and “aging“) are steels that are known for possessing superior strength and toughness without losing ductility. Aging refers to the extended heat-treatment process. These steels are a special class of very-low-carbon ultra-high-strength steels that derive their strength not from carbon, but from precipitation of intermetallic compounds. The principal alloying element is 15 to 25 wt% Nickel. Secondary alloying elements, which include Cobalt, Molybdenum and Titanium, are added to produce intermetallic precipitates.
