430F Round Bars
430F Round Bars is improved Iron Chrome Ferritic Stainless Steel with improved machinibility than 430. Non hardenable alloy with moderate corrosion resistance.
AISI 430F Round Bars is a stainless steel that is a very widely used for places which part needs to be machined a lot. This grade is written as 1.4105 or X6CrMoS17 according to EN norm and it is written as UNS S43020 according to UNS norm. 430F stainless steel is the easiest stainless grade for machining and 1.4105 grade can be named as free machining stainless steel grade. 430F material is close to 430 (1.4016) grade SS and there are small difference and these differences are addition of sulfur and molibdenium. Sulfur makes the chips break easily while machining and sulfur also threats like oil so the machining process can be done very fastly by using these stainless steel grade. Since sulfur decrease the corrosion resistance level, a little molibdenium addition has been made to this grade.
AISI 430F is writen as 1.4105 according to EN norm but most of the time, 1.4104 grade is mixed with AISI 430F grade. Since 1.4104 and 1.4105 are both very similar grades, and since 1.4104 does not have any equivalent according to AISI norm, 1.4104 is mixed too much with the 1.4105 (AISI 430F) grade. The main difference between these two grades are carbon content level. 1.4104 grade includes higher carbon level then 1.4105 grade. So 1.4104 stainless steel can be heat threated but 1.4105 grade can not be heat threated. Since both of these grades are so similar, in many applications both of them can be used alternative to each other.
