DIN 1.2738 Flat Bars / AISI P20+Ni Flat Bars
1.2738 Flat Bars is a plastic mould tool steel, used mainly for plastic injection die moulds. It can be viewed as enhanced version of 1.2311 alloy, with 1% nickel content having a positive effect on hardenability.The steel is machinable, polishable, and suitable for texturing. Welding is somewhat difficult, but possible. Make sure to pre-heat and perform tempering, when the piece colled down after welding.
DIN 1.2738 steel is one kind of plastic mold steel, equivalent to AISI P20+Ni tool steel. While Nickel, chromium and molybdenium are the alloying elements for hardness and toughness. 1.2738 tool steel is specially designed for plastic mold industry, especially for big steel mold parts.

Applications of DIN 1.2738 Steel :
1.2738 mold steel materials are generally used for relatively low temperature applications such as die casting dies and injection moulds, synthetic plastic moulds dies, especially for large plastic moulds higly stressed in core, hydroforming tools, such as up to 400 mm in the construction of plastic moulds. DIN 1.2738 is suitable for nitriding and chrome plating.
For Injection moulds for thermoplastics, extrusion dies for thermoplastics, plastic piping & plumbing injection molds. Blow molds, forming tools, press – brake dies (possibly flame hardened or nitrided ). Aluminium die casting prototype dies, structural components, shafts. Pet preform mold, Standard Mould Base, Compression Mould for SMC, Cavitations Molds.
